HYDERABAD: A day after it was reported that several students at National Institute of Technology-Imphal, hailing from Bihar, were assaulted by locals, it has emerged that several students hailing from the two Telugu speaking States, were also among those who were roughed up, on Sunday.  While Bihar CM Nitish Kumar has communicated with Manipur CM N Biren Singh and sought his support, Telugu students at the NIT have reached out to media here.

An Manipur government official said that a few Manipuri students were playing football and at another part of the same ground some students hailing from other parts of the country were playing cricket. Arguments erupted between the two groups over some petty issues and this led to fisticuffs. On their way back to hostel they were reportedly roughed up by the local students.
