Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Limited sets record, pumps 100 tmcft water in 148 days

Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Limited (MEIL) has created another record by pumping 100 tmcft of water in just 148 days.

HYDERABAD: Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Limited (MEIL) has created another record by pumping 100 tmcft of water in just 148 days through the Andhra Pradesh government’s prestigious Pattiseema lift irrigation project. “We have achieved another milestone. Earlier, we had entered into the Limca Book of records by completing the Pattiseema project within the stipulated time,” a press release from the company said here on Wednesday.

In the current season, the company pumped 100 tmcft of Godavari water through Pattiseema to Krishna river up to November 15 in 148 days daily.  Though Pattiseema was intended to lift 80 tmcft in 110 days in a year, this year the company pumped 100 tmcft, 20 per cent more than the target. In the last three seasons, the MEIL pumped 159 tmcft of Godavari water to Krishna river including 55.6 tmcft in 2016 and 4 tmcft in 2015.

Contrary to the general perception that lift irrigation schemes are difficult to maintain and they need frequent repairs, the MEIL pumped the water without any interruption for more than 1.2 lakh hours. As many as 24 motors worked non-stop for 148 days using 25,36,06,00 kWh power.” MEIL proved its supremacy and superior technology in electro-mechanical sector,” it claimed.

As the water availability in the Krishna has reduced, the AP government completed the Pattiseema project three years ago to divert Godavari water to the Krishna delta. All the water required for 13 lakh acres in Krishna delta was supplied from the Godavari this year through Pattiseema.  MEIL completed the Pattiseema lift irrigation project ahead of schedule with the support of around 2,000 employees.
