GUNTUR: Social Welfare Minister Nakka Anand Babu has said people should uphold the values of the Indian constitution and the younger generation should be more aware of it.
It was on this day in 1949, that the Constituent Assembly of India adopted the Constitution of India drafted by BR Ambedkar, known as the architect of the Indian Constitution.
The Minister paid floral tributes to the statue of BR Ambedkar at Lodge Centre here on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, he said the State government was implementing several welfare schemes for the uplift of Dalits in tune with the ideals of Ambedkar.
He said the government will soon install a 125-foot statue of BR Ambedkar at Dr BR Ambedkar Memorial Park which is coming up in 20 acres of land in the capital region of Amaravati.
Dalit leaders Krishna Mohan, M Bala Kumar and G Arun Kumar also paid tributes to Dr BR Ambedkar.
