HYDERABAD: Taking a serious note of the non-implementation of the earlier orders of the court with regard to regularization of services of two casual employees (Non Muster Roll (NMR) staff), Justice M S Ramachandra Rao of the Hyderabad High Court on Friday imposed a fine of `2,000 each upon AP state endowments commissioner Anuradha and Vijayawada Kanaka Durga temple executive officer A Surya Kumari in a suo moto contempt case.

In an earlier occasion, the temple authorities submitted that they did not regularize the services of petitioners A Krishna Durga Siva Kumar and V Praneeth Babu, who were working as casual employees in the temple for more than five years, under the pretext that there was a ban on recruitments. While rejecting their stand, the Court directed them to regularize the services of the  two employees. When it was brought to the notice of the court that the authorities have failed to implement the orders, the Court initiated suo motu contempt case and summoned the temple executive officer.

Pursuant to the court direction, Surya Kumari appeared before the court. Her counsel submitted that the EO issued the orders only after the petitioners’ representations were rejected by the commissioner and urged liberty from the contempt case. Not satisfied with the submissions, the judge felt that the respondent officers have willfully violated the orders of the court, and directed them to pay `2,000 as fine for committing contempt of court.
