VISAKHAPATNAM: AMID the spree of students’ suicide in various educational institutions in the state, an incident of corporal punishment at a school has created a ruckus among the residents of Gajuwaka on Wednesday. R Moses Kumar, a sixth standard student, was allegedly beaten up by his class teacher severely over an allegation of stealing a book.

The parents and relatives of the boy rushed to the school and questioned the teacher. Heated arguments followed before the police rushed and pacified the mob. Later the parents and representatives of the school management negotiated and reached an amicable agreement. As they compromised, no complaint was lodged against the teacher or school management.
