Rape victim discharged from king George hospital 

The 40-year-old woman who was raped in the broad daylight on the footpath on Sunday has been discharged from the hospital. It is learnt that her father reached the hospital late Monday night.

VISAKHAPATNAM: The 40-year-old woman who was raped in the broad daylight on the footpath on Sunday has been discharged from the hospital. It is learnt that her father reached the hospital late Monday night.According to King George Hospital officials, the woman was treated in the gynaecology ward and under doctor T Nagamani. After the condition of the victim became stable, she was discharged on Tuesday evening. Two Town inspector GV Ramana said that the father of the victim, who resides at Thatichetlapalem, came to the hospital on Monday night.

Police say that the accused, 25-year old G Shiva, a resident of Railway New Colony, has been a  liquor and ganja addict for years now. Sources said that after the death of his father a couple of years ago, the accused fell prey to vices. He had hurt his mother a number of times under the influence of alcohol, pestering money for liquor.  “Teh accused drives cars and lorries on daily wages. He has several cases against him in 2012 and was jailed. But there was no change in his behavior. The incident happened when he was drunk,” said Ramana.

Shiva raped a woman at Railway New Colony at around 2 pm on Sunday. The woman was said to have left home after a dispute with her husband over some issues. She apparently had not taken food for days and was believed to be very weak and lying on the footpath under a tree in drowsy condition when the accused forced him on her. The police arrested him on Monday and was remanded.
