VISAKHAPATNAM: The proposed underground cable network project will be a reality before 2019, said HY Dora who took charge as the new chairman and managing director of the APEPDCL at the corporate office here on Friday. Dora assumed the office from the former CMD MM Nayak who has been transferred as the chairman and managing director of the SPDCL. Dora is the 10th CMD of the EPDCL since its inception in 2000. Earlier, he worked as the CMD of the SPDCL. The APEPDCL caters to around 50 lakh consumers across five coastal districts of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, East Godavari, Visakhapatnam and West Godavari.

“Round-the-clock uninterrupted quality power supply will be ensured to consumers in both urban and rural areas. Farmers will get seven-hour free power supply without interruption for sure,” Dora told the media after taking the charge while listing out his priorities.  Promising that he would continue with the reforms introduced by the former CMDs and improve them in due course, Dora said the underground cable network would be completed before 2019 without delay.

“It will enable us to ask the World Bank to convert the loan as a grant. Industries will be encouraged as supply will be ensured under the EODB portal immediately,” he added. He requested the employees to extend their cooperation to introduce new reforms and promised that their problems would be solved without delay.
