VIJAYAWADA: At a time when those who are stressed turn to meditation for relaxation, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has gone one step forward and is practising “self-visualisation”, hitherto considered the preserve of the spiritually inclined.Of late, the Chief Minister has made it a habit to begin his day with the new exercise which allows him to gaze at his strength and draw inspiration and courage to move forward from within, without seeking the virtues outside.Naidu, now, is encouraging his cabinet colleagues, and bureaucrats too, to adopt yoga. He has already made Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev train them in different asanas to keep them stress-free both at work and at home.

As part of the self-visualisation exercise, which lasts for around 10 minutes, Naidu will visualise his life from his childhood to the present. “I will question myself about who I am and where I have come from. I will go into the past and visualise my present from childhood days for five minutes and then seek answers to questions on who I am now, what my challenges, opportunities and responsibilities are and what exactly my goal is,’’ said Naidu. After the 10-minute exercise, Naidu does breathing exercises followed by physical fitness exercises like cycling, running and lifting weights for 30 to 40 minutes. The Chief Minister, however, said that he does not meditate.

To a question on what he eats to keep him refreshed throughout his 16-hour schedule, Naidu said that his diet was very simple. “I will eat to live and not live to eat,” he said jovially. He was speaking to reporters at a press conference at the Interim Government Complex in Velagapudi near here.
After a little nudging from reporters, the Chief Minister revealed that his breakfast comprised jowar idli, oats upma or two dosas, a light chutney and fruit.

For lunch, he prefers ragi, jowar or sajja along with two or three vegetables, curd and dry fruit.
He has soup, light food and one or two eggs whites for dinner. He likes to have one glass of milk before signing off for the day. He turns to fruit in case he has midnight cravings.
He keeps a watch on the calorie intake and will not exceed the limit.
