Andhra Pradesh: TDP legislators to pedal to Assembly

With YSRC, the main Opposition party in the State, announcing that its MPs would quit Lok Sabha MPs and the Jana Sena planning to organise a padayatra on national highways.

VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has decided to organise another meeting with leaders of all political parties and people’s organisations on Friday to chalk out the future course of action to bring pressure on the Centre to fulfil the promises made to the State even after adjournment of the Parliament.

With YSRC, the main Opposition party in the State, announcing that its MPs would quit Lok Sabha MPs and the Jana Sena planning to organise a padayatra on national highways on Friday, Naidu summoned senior TDP leaders to his residence on Thursday evening and discussed how the TDP should carry forward its movement for achieving the Special Category Status (SCS) and other fulfilment of all promises mentioned in the AP State Reorganisation Act.

Disclosing the decisions taken at the meeting, TDP’s AP president and Minister for Energy K Kala Venkata Rao said the party would organise a series of programmes to explain to the people how the Centre had betrayed the people of the State.He said that on Friday morning all TDP MLAs would assemble at the statue of TDP founder NT Rama Rao at Venkatapalem en route to the Secretariat and proceed to the AP Legislative Assembly on bicycles. The Chief Minister would flag off a bicycle rally of the MLAs.

Similarly, activists of the TDP will organise cycle and motorcycle rallies in all mandal and constituency headquarters across the districts on Friday.Stating that the MPs would stay put in the Lok Sabha even after the House is adjourned sine die, the Minister said that a bus yatra, named as ‘Atma Gourava Yatra’, would be organised in all  districts after the MPs return from Delhi.
