GUNTUR: YSR Congress (YSRC) president and Opposition leader YS Jaganmohan Reddy started his Praja Sankalpa Yatra from Manchikalapudi of Duggirala mandal in Guntur district, covering a distance of 11.7 km and completing 1,728.6 km during his walkathon which entered the 132nd day on Monday.
He paid floral tributes to the statue of his father and former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy to mark the launch of the latter’s Praja Prasthanam 15 years ago on April 9.

Jagan covered Morampudi Cross Road, Tummapudi Cross Road, Revendrapadu and other villages in Mangalagiri Assembly constituency of Guntur district. His father completed his padayatra covering a distance of 1,472 km from Chevella to Itchapuram in the unified State of Andhra Pradesh.

He interacted with turmeric farmers who complained that they were not getting minimum support price (MSP) for their produce because of which they were unable to clear their bank loans. The farmers said that the price of  Rs 6,000 per quintal being offered to them for the past four years was not remunerative and that they would be financially comfortable only if the government paid them Rs 10,000 per quintal as MSP.
