VIJAYAWADA: Water Resources Minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao has demanded an apology from Opposition Leader YS Jaganmohan Reddy for “spewing venom” on the Pattiseema lift irrigation scheme. The minister also sought an explanation from the YSRC chief for making baseless allegations on the Pattiseema project. Devineni said, “He (Jagan) should start his address by apologising to the public for making baseless allegations that Pattiseema was a waste project.”

He said the State government was able to help Krishna delta farmers grow crops worth Rs 2,500 crore in 2016, Rs 5,500 crore in 2017 and Rs 10,000 crore in 2018, by pumping 4.4 tmc, 55 tmc and 105 tmc of Godavari water through Pattiseema in the respective years.

“Besides, by providing Godavari water to the Krishna delta, we have diverted 146 tmc of Srisailam water to Rayalaseema region. However, Jagan, a first-time MLA who lacks knowledge on irrigation projects, claimed that the TDP government had wasted public money,” he fumed.
