RAJAMAHENDRAVARAM: Former MP Undavalli Arunkumar has said that it is the right time to move a no-confidence motion against the BJP-led government at the Centre and welcomed YSRC chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s decision to move the motion in the Lok Sabha.

“This is the right time. Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan also supported the move. We can take advantage of the situation,” he opined. Addressing media at the Press Club here Tuesday, he said he could not understand the stand of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu on the issue. “Naidu says we are fighting. But there is no meaning in entering the well of the Lok Sabha. You don’t get anything out of it,” he pointed out, adding that no-confidence motion gives room for debate which could be used to expose the Modi government.

“I request the CM to support the no-confidence motion in the Lok Sabha to be moved by the YSRC,” he said and recalled that the BJP had also played a role in the bifurcation of AP.  “Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself had said bifurcation of AP was done behind closed doors. What was his party doing at that time? and what is it doing now?” Arunkumar asked.

Speaking about Polavaram, he said that the CM had recently claimed none can ask for accounts. “I request YSRC chief Jagan to allow his MLAs to attend the Assembly session. He need not stop his padayatra. All that he needs to do is guide the MLAs. The TDP and BJP are accusing and fighting  with each other. Polavaram is a very crucial matter,’ he said and claimed that he had found some information pertaining to a possible scam on the Polavaram website.

The former MP also pointed out that exactly four years ago, on February 20, the then BJP leader and present Vice-President spoke in the Rajya Sabha about Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh during the passage of the Reorganisation Bill.

This is a significant date, he stressed and expressed the hope that all parties would unite to build pressure on the Centre. “If all parties unite, they can show what Andhra Pradesh could do. Then, those at the Centre will be afraid of meddling with the people of AP, ” he observed.
