CII Summit: Adani Group to invest Rs 9,000 crore in Andhra Pradesh

VISHAKHAPATNAM: The Adani Group will invest Rs 9,000 crore in various projects including a greenfield seaport at Bhavanapadu in Srikakulam district, announced Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani at the inaugural session of the three-day CII Partnership Summit in Vishakhapatnam on Saturday.

The investments also include a 1,000 MW renewable energy project and a battery storage facility in Andhra Pradesh, said Adani adding that the investment would be made in the state in the next five years.

Adani was all praise for chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu and opined that Andhra Pradesh is well positioned to lead the India growth story.

Addressing the gathering, chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu reiterated his objective of transforming Andhra Pradesh into one of the top three states in the country by 2022 and the top state by 2029. Expressing his happiness over hosting the Partnership summit for third consecutive time, he said Andhra Pradesh stands number one in ease of doing business and offers best opportunities for investment.

Naidu said he is all set to reduce energy rates in the Sunrise State by focusing on solar energy in a big way. He highlighted the focus of the state government on real-time governance for bringing in accountability.

"Within 5 years 20 lakh jobs will be created in the Sunrise State of Andhra Pradesh," he said and invited the delegates to explore the investor-friendly atmosphere of Andhra Pradesh.

Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, who inaugurated the three-day event being attended by over 2,500 delegates from more than 30 countries, described Andhra Pradesh as an international platform for opportunities.

Union minister for commerce and industry Suresh Prabhu, who chaired the inaugural session lauded the Sunrise State of Andhra Pradesh to be the fastest growing state in the Country despite all its challenges. He said the focus is towards making the Sunrise State of Andhra Pradesh fully employed.
