Andhra Pradesh government suppressing Kapus’ agitation: Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham

GUNTUR: Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham has alleged that TDP leaders are staging protests against the Union government without seeking Centre’s permission but are imposing restrictions on ‘deekshas’ by Kapu. “This is highly objectionable to our community,” he said.

Addressing the media at Vellaluru village under Ponnur mandal of Guntur district on Wednesday after visiting Kapu JAC leader Kota Srinivasa Rao’s house, he called upon the Kapus to vote against TDP in the forthcoming elections. He said the Kapu community would support any political party which gives BC reservation to the community in the forthcoming elections.

Padmanabham demanded that the government provide BC reservation to Kapus as it was promised by CM N Chandrababu Naidu during the elections in the year 2014. He further demanded that the CM direct the tahsildars issue BC certificates officially to Kapu community. He alleged that Naidu had provided employment to his son Lokesh but failed to fulfil his promise to Kapus.

The Kapu leader recalled that Bharat Ratna BR Ambedkar’s grandson Prakash Ambedkar had extended his support to the Kapu agitation but the government always tried to suppress the agitations of the Kapu community in the State.

He alleged that the CM had failed to fulfil the promises made to the Kapus so members of the community had taken to streets to express their displeasure. He recalled that the Kapu community had already passed resolutions to vote against TDP.

Kapu leaders and YSRC leaders Kilaru Rosaiah, Kavati Manohar Naidu and Mala Mahasabha president Mallela Venkatrao  met Mudragada Padmanabham.
