VIJAYAWADA: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has instructed the Intelligence Bureau (IB) to probe the phone-tapping complaint made by the BJP state president Kanna Lakshminarayana, the latter said. Kanna met Rajnath Singh in New Delhi on Monday.

Speaking to the media at the BJP state office on Tuesday, Kanna said, “The Union minister has asked the IB to conduct an enquiry into the issue. The TDP leaders maintain that to tap phones the service provider needs permission from the Department of Telecommunications, which is under the purview of the Centre. But, the TDP government has purchased off-the-air equipment, which enables tapping phones without seeking any permission.”

He also said that the State government bought the equipment after Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s role was ‘exposed’ in the cash-for-vote scam. “The Telangana government has the off-the-air equipment due to which CM Naidu got exposed in the cash-for-vote scandal. That was when the AP government too purchased it. Anybody’s phone can be tapped using it. Can Naidu deny that such equipment was bought?” he asked.

Kanna also demanded that the TDP government released a white paper on the development it made since it came to power 1,500 days ago. “Except creating temporary infrastructure (capital and lift irrigation schemes) and encouraging corruption, has the TDP government developed even 15 projects in 1,500 days?” he questioned. The BJP leader also slammed the TDP for trying to seek support from other parties ahead of the commencement of the Parliament’s monsoon session. “The TDP MPs were not even given appointment by Shiv Sena and others. This shows their credibility,” he said.

The state president also asked the CM to justify his remarks on the banking system. “Out of ignorance, Naidu alleged that the banking sector was getting disrupted due to certain decisions are taken by the Centre. Such irresponsible statements from a CM, who boasts of his experience would create panic in the public. What if the public withdraws the money from the banks due to the CM’s irresponsible remarks?” He wondered.
