ELURU: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has reiterated that the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) will continue its fight against the Centre, which failed to accord special category status (SCS) to Andhra Pradesh as promised at the time of bifurcation.

Speaking at a public meeting organised at Kovvur on Thursday as part of the Nagara Darshini programme, the Chief Minister exuded confidence that the TDP would succeed in its fight against the Centre for justice to the State.

He alleged that the BJP-led NDA regime at the Centre had betrayed the people of Andhra Pradesh. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had denied special category status to AP citing the 14th Finance Commission report. He said that the TDP had joined the NDA with a view to develop the residuary AP on all fronts. Naidu said, “I did not take a U-turn on the issue of special category status as alleged by the opposition parties. I have taken a right turn in the larger interests of the State. Actually, it is the BJP government at the Centre which took a U-turn on the issues pertaining to development of AP.”

“Ours is a Dharma Poratam. The TDP has started the fight and it will continue it till justice is done to AP. It is the fight for the rights of people. In Dharma Poratam, it is Dharma which will finally win. We will not give up our fight against the Centre till all our demands are met,” he said.

The Chief Minister exhorted the people to support his fight against the Centre. It is not an ordinary fight. It is the fight against the injustice done to AP by PM Modi. We will end the tyranny of the Centre, which is detrimental to the federalism, the Chief Minister said.

Naidu alleged that the YSRC MPs who quit their posts for special status, are now relaxing in their houses. The Chief Minister also lashed out at Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan for levelling baseless corruption allegations against the TDP government. If the TDP achieves landslide victory in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections bagging all the 25 seats, it will be in a position to dictate terms and decide the next PM. In such a scenario, the State will get all the due from the Centre to achieve rapid economic growth,” he said.
Ministers KS Jawahar and Pithani Satyanarayana and others participated in the meeting.

Earlier, the Chief Minister participated in the Grama Darshini programme at Pasivedala in Kovvuru rural mandal and conducted a padayatra in the village. He interacted with the people to know their problems and promised to redress them at the earliest.
