VIJAYAWADA: IT Minister Nara Lokesh and BJP MP GVL Narasimha Rao indulged in a war of words on Twitter on Tuesday with both the leaders accusing each other of spreading “lies” and “fake claims”. The sharp exchange of words started when Lokesh, in a series of tweets, sought to know who GVL Narasimha Rao was to talk about state administrative matters.“May I ask who is GVL to tell UCs submitted by AP are incorrect? Concerned departments have to raise questions if they are in improper form. FYI, all UCs for nearly Rs 1,000 crore spent on Backward Districts have been submitted & approved. (sic).”
He further said that no funds were released for Amaravati drainage works as being claimed by the BJP. He clarified that Rs 1,000 crore-Rs 460 crores for Vijayawada and Rs 540 crore for Guntur -- can’t be added into Amaravati’s account. “UCs for Rs 349 crore have been submitted for the work completed until now, pending work in both cities will be finished by next year (sic),” Lokesh tweeted. Lokesh also observed that the Centre has given Rs 1,500 crore for Amaravati construction and UCs for works worth `1,583 crore were submitted and they were accepted by the Centre.
“I request GVL to share details of his ‘imaginary projects’ for which `8,962 Cr was given or accept that he is lying through his teeth. Submissions & approval of UCs are administrative procedures that involve Central & State Govt employees. But BJP wants to politicize it and portray that AP is misusing funds to tarnish @ncbn’s (Chandrababu Naidu) image. BTW (by the way), one does not need UCs to deliver on the promise of Special Status to AP (sic),” he added.
To this, GVL Narasimha Rao tweeted, “Dear @naralokesh any common man can ask questions to a govt. Don’t exhibit dynastic arrogance of @RahulGandhi. For utilised funds, UCs must be honest, not fake. I dare you to tell people in your “Naya Vanchana Deekshas” what works you have done. Your fake claims will be exposed. (sic)”
