VISAKHAPATNAM: The Special Court which was constituted to hear cases of SC /ST Atrocities in Vizag, began hearing the Vakapalli gangrape case here on Friday and after several adjournments, the Vakapalli case was posted for June 14. It was learnt that public prosecutor Sunkara Rajendra Prasad told the Magistrate that he was yet to get the police records, which he was entitled to. Sources in the legal fraternity said that the Magistrate was surprised on how the case had gone to the Apex Court, without the men-in-uniform submitting the records, which are part of the police investigation.

It was learnt that the demand of the public prosecutor to have an interpreter to interpret Kui language to Telugu was taken into  consideration by the Magistrate. It may be recalled that on August 20, 2007, 11 tribal women of Vakapalli village of G Madugula mandal from Visakhapatnam Agency were allegedly gangraped by the  personnel of AP Greyhounds. After 10 years, last year the Supreme Court ordered that the case be heard by Special Court constituted to handle SC /ST Atrocities Act.
