176 booked for drunk driving in Andhra Pradesh

GUNTUR: In an effort to curb drunk driving, Guntur Rural Police has recently conducted checks and booked 176 violators. In a press conference on Tuesday, Rural SP Ch Appala Naidu said 43 of the total booked were jailed. Urging motorists to strictly follow traffic rules and avoid driving while drunk, the SP said the police was regularly holding awareness campaigns on safe driving. He stated drives against drunk driving would continue. Naidu added that parents of such youths would be counselled.
