Andhra Pradesh government school students yet to get uniforms

Previously, the process of distributing free uniforms used to be completed by June or July. For the last two years, there is a lot of delay in the distribution of uniforms.

ANANTAPUR: Though schools have reopened, the government is yet to take steps to distribute free uniforms to students. Every year the government will provide two pairs of uniforms to each student. There are 3,844 primary, upper primary and high schools in the district in which 2,77,230 students are studying. The government has to provide them 5,54,460 uniforms. The Sarva Shiksha Abhyan (SSA) officials received indents for uniforms from various schools and sent them to the government.

Previously, the process of distributing free uniforms used to be completed by June or July. For the last two years, there is a lot of delay in the distribution of uniforms. The officials have stated that `16 crore is needed to provide two pairs of uniforms to the students.   However, the government did not release funds for the purpose. He said that the distribution of uniforms is likely to begin this month.
