RTC Chittoor nets over Rs 2.5 cr during Eid weekend

TIRUPATI: APSRTC Chittoor region netted a record revenue of `2.55 crore and achieved a mileage of 5.05 kilometer per liter (KMPL) with 104 per cent of occupancy ratio and 93.07 per cent of punctuality rate on June 18, by running special bus services on the occasion of Eid.

In addition to Tirumala summer rush, the Eid festival also gave scope for APSTRC to earn good revenue. To cope with the extra rush, the RTC operated nearly 121 special buses from this region from June 15 to 18.

Though there was heavy pilgrim rush for Tirupati,  the rush reached its peak on Monday as the people who visited their native places for Eid, returned to Tirupati.

Majority of the passengers preferred APSRTC over private bus operators. According to APSRTC officials, Tirupati, Tirumala and Mangalam bus depots netted good revenue out of the 14 depots in the region. Tirumala depot bagged the top position by collecting `23.97 lakh, followed by Mangalam depot `23.68 lakh, Chittoor-2 depot `23.07 lakh, Tirupati depot `22.08 lakh, Alipiri depot `21.10 lakh and Madanapalle-1 depot `20.35 lakh. Madanapalle-1 depot achieved 100 per cent punctuality rate and an occupancy ratio of 103 per cent.

Tirumala depot also stood top in terms of occupancy ratio by recording 111 per cent of passengers’ patronage and 5.11 KMPL of mileage. In terms of mileage, Madanapalle-2 depot topped by noting 5.28 KMPL and also achieved 98.19 per cent of punctuality rate with 107 per cent of occupancy ratio.
