VISAKHAPATNAM: The southwest monsoon has been weak over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema. The upper air cyclonic circulation over northwest Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood persists and now is seen between 4.5 km and 5.8 km above the mean sea level.
According to the India Meteorological Department reports, there is no warning of thunderstorm activity in the State for the next two days. Temperatures are likely to be normal. Light to moderate rain is likely to occur at a few places in Coastal AP and Rayalaseema.
In the last 24 hours, rain lashed some places. Rainfall of 5 cm was recorded at Mentada and 2 cm at Vepada in Vizianagaram and 2 cm at Vijayawada in Krishna district. Other places in the districts of Vizianagaram, West Godavari and Guntur received 1 cm rainfall.
On Sunday, the maximum temperature recorded was below 40 degree Celsius, but people had a sweltering day.
The highest temperature of 38.9 degree Celsius was recorded at Ongole, 38.8 degree Celsius at Kavali, 38.6 degree Celsius at Bapatla and Machilipatnam, 38.2 degree Celsius at Jangamaheswarapuram.
Other places experienced temperature ranging between 35 and 37 degree Celsius. While the temperature is likely to be normal for the next four days, IMD warns that heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places in all the districts of Coastal AP after four days.
