TIRUPATI: In another blow to former Tirumala Temple chief priest AV Ramana Deekshitulu, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Trust Board on Tuesday decided to remove him as the member of the Agama Advisory Board and appoint in his place incumbent chief priest Venugopala Deekshitulu.

Ramana Deekshitulu had raised a banner of revolt against the TTD alleging corruption and irregularities in maintaining jewels belonging to Lord Venkateswara. The TTD issued a legal notice to Ramana Deekshitulu, asking him to prove his allegations or face legal action.

The TTD Trust Board, a day after claiming that they had verified the Lord’s jewels and found them intact, met on Tuesday and terminated the services of Ramana Deekshitulu. Speaking to reporters after the meeting, TTD Chairman Putta Sudhakar Yadav, said they have decided to remove Ramana Deekshitulu from the Board and to appoint the present chief priest Venugopala Deekshitulu in his place.
