SRIKAKULAM: The non-resident Indians from America, who formed a trust in the name of Mission Uddanam to support the CKD patients in Uddanam villages, distributed medicines on Friday. The team, led by Dr. Durga Rao, who is conducting research on CKD, visited several villages of Palasa mandal, including Rangoyi, Summadevi, Gollaakanna Palli, Kobbari Chettuvuru and surrounding villages.
They distributed medicines worth Rs 4 lakh among 200 patients. On the occasion, Dr. Durga Rao told newsmen that the Mission Uddanam was formed by Dr. Kumar Kottapalli, Dr. Ravi Ande and other medicos, who had settled in the USA. Since 2016, they have been extending aid to the CKD victims by distributing medicines and other forms of support.
In an attempt to extend support to their parents, the children of the Mission members had borne the cost of medicines this time by conducting several events in America, said Dr Durga Rao. Niharika Kottapalli, Lavanya Ande and Pramukh Kadanala had come from the USA to support the patients. JSP leaders Sujatha Panda, Sai Pratap and others helped in the distribution of medicines.
