GUNTUR: In a shocking incident, a woman bobbitised her husband leading to his death on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday in Guntur district. The victim was opposed to the alleged illicit relationship of his wife which led to the killing, police said. The incident took place in Sirangipalem of Phirangipuram mandal in the district.

According to Phirangipuram sub-inspector of police S Ujwal Kumar, the victim Chukka Yesuratnam (27) was sleeping in the house when his wife Swarna Latha attacked him on his private parts with a sickle. The couple is farmhands.

Police said Yesuratnam was suspecting that his wife was having an illicit affair with another person whom she met at work and the couple were having differences over the same.

A few months back, Swarna Latha deserted her husband and started living with the other person. Village and community elders intervened and convinced Swarna Latha to return back to her husband.

Yesuratnam, however, suspected that Swarna Latha was still continuing her relationship with the other person and they used to quarrel over the issue frequently.

SI Ujwal Kumar said on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday, the couple once again had a quarrel and Swarna Latha attacked her husband with a sickle on his private parts. Yesuratnam tried to defend himself but as he was wriggling in pain, Swarna Latha throttled her husband and as he fell unconscious, she bobbitised him leading to his death.

The couple's children aged seven and six were sleeping when the incident took place. Hearing the commotion, neighbours rushed to the house and found Yesuratnam dead.

Police, who registered a case, shifted the body to Guntur Government Hospital for postmortem. The woman is reportedly taken into custody for questioning.
