GUNTUR: In a shocking incident, a woman bobbitised her husband leading to his death at Sirangipalem in Phirangipuram mandal of the district on Friday night. Phirangipuram Sub-Inspector S Ujwal Kumar said Chukka Yesuratnam (27) was sleeping in the house when his wife Swarna Latha attacked him on his genitals with a sickle. The victim had objected to the illicit relationship of his wife with another person, which led to the killing.

A few months ago, Swarna Latha, a farmhand, deserted her husband and started living with another person with whom she developed an illicit relationship. Village and community elders intervened and convinced Swarna Latha to return back to her husband. Yesuratnam, however, suspected that she was still continuing her illicit relationship. The couple used to quarrel on the issue frequently. He had a quarrel with his wife once again on the issue on Friday night.

Later, Swarna Latha attacked her husband with a sickle on his genitals. Yesuratnam tried to defend himself, but as he was wriggling in pain, she throttled him. When he fell unconscious, she bobbitised Yesuratnam leading to his instantaneous death. The children of the couple, aged seven and six were sleeping when the incident took place. Hearing the commotion, neighbours rushed to the house and found Yesuratnam dead. The body was shifted to Guntur government hospital for postmortem. Swarna Latha was reportedly taken into police custody. Phirangipuram police registered a case.
