ONGOLE:  In a suspected case of honour killing, a former CRPF employee allegedly killed his daughter for falling in love with an SC boy. After killing the girl, the father hurriedly performed the last rites in the midnight to suppress evidence and claimed that his daughter committed suicide. The incident took place at Nagireddypalli in Komarolu mandal under Giddaluru police limits in Prakasam district.

District Superintendent of Police B Satya Yesu Babu said the deceased, B Indirakalahati alias Indraja, fell in love with K Chaitanya, who hails from the same village. Indraja’s family belongs to a backward class community. Indraja’s father Aulaiah alias Pichaiah is a retired CRPF employee. Aulaiah who was dead against his daughter’s choice, even shifted his family to Rajendranagar in Hyderabad where he worked as daily-wage earner.

Chaitanya also followed the girl to Hyderabad, found a job in a private resort and continued to remain in touch with the girl. About 20 days back, Indraja and Chaithanya approached the Rajendranagar police seeking their help in getting their marriage performed.

The police counselled the duo and sent Indraja to her parents. Immediately, Aulaiah shifted his family back to his village and tried to convince Indraja to stop meeting Chaitanya. Meanwhile, two days back, Chaitanya approached the Giddaluru police urging them to warn Indraja’s parents not to trouble his parents in the wake of the developments in Hyderabad.

The police called Aulaiah and asked him to stay away from Chaitanya’s parents. Meanwhile, Indraja died under suspicious circumstances late Sunday night and, in the midnight itself, Indraja’s body was cremated by the family members on the village outskirts. By morning, the news about the death of Indraja spread like wildfire and the Giddaluru VRO lodged a complaint with the police.

According to the rumours doing the rounds in the area, Aulaiah hanged Indraja to death and performed the final rites to suppress evidence. Indraja’s parents asserted that she died of illness as she did not have food for a week and they performed her last rites as per their family customs. Police registered a case of suspicious death and took Aulaiah into custody for investigation. Preliminary inquiry revealed that the girl was killed, sources said.
