A day after Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy told some of his Cabinet colleagues from Seemandhra region that the Telangana process might be delayed with the status of Hyderabad being a puzzle to the AICC leadership, Union Minister of Textiles Kavuri Sambasiva Rao made a similar statement on Friday.

The Congress veteran from Seemandhra exuded confidence that the T-note might not be presented before the Union Cabinet without addressing the apprehensions of the people of Seemandhra on contentious issues such as the status of Hyderabad and sharing of river waters. He also claimed that his party leadership was rethinking on its Telangana decision. “Seemandhra people are not ready to forgo their rights on Hyderabad city, which has emerged as a metropolis by virtue of it being the capital of united AP,” he said.

Speaking to mediapersons in Delhi on Friday, Rao said the Congress high command has taken note of the ongoing agitation in Seemandhra demanding that the state be kept intact and was likely to make a statement soon to placate the agitated minds of Seemandhra people. The statement could be issued soon after AICC leader Sonia Gandhi returned to Delhi from abroad, he indicated.

“I feel our party high command has taken note of the Seemandhra agitation. It will take steps soon to pacify the people of the region. The A K Antony Committee is willing to visit Hyderabad to address the apprehensions of the people of Seemandhra.... We have put forward a strong argument in favour of united AP before the Antony Committee as well as our party high command. We will decide our future as per the wishes of people,” he said.
