Asserting that the time for celebrations had not yet come, TRS president K Chandrashekar Rao made it clear on Friday that he would continue to fight until “the objectionable parts”,  including vesting maintenance of law and order in Hyderabad in governor, were amended.

“Investing governor with law and order powers overriding Telangana Government is nothing but insulting the people of Telangana. Why should there be a super council over the democratically-elected government of Telangana?’’ he asked and pointed out: “Law and order is a state subject and no interference in it will be entertained. It would be better if the Centre corrects the mistake on its own or we will have to fight for our right.”

After discussing the draft bill at his party’s Politburo meeting, he wondered why Telangana should be any different from the 28 other states.

“With a large heart we have agreed to Hyderabad being joint capital for some time, though no such arrangement could be seen in the Constitution,’’ he said while speaking to reporters at Telangana Bhavan.

The TRS chief also vehemently opposed distribution of employees, assets and liabilities on population basis and said that for long people of Telangana had been cheated of what was rightfully theirs.

Already Telangana is paying pensions for thousands of employees from other region, he said.
