The indefinite strike by electricity department employees had its impact on the counselling for admissions into various EDCET courses being held on Sri Venkateswara Arts College campus here on Monday.

Candidates from various districts came to attend the counselling in the morning hours and waited on the campus premises hoping the problem will be resolved soon.

Vice-principal N Subba Reddy, SV Arts College, said due to the power cuts, the counselling was stopped, but the students were assured that the counselling will be held immediately after the restoration of power. “Around 7 pm, power supply was restored and the students were informed to attend the counselling,” he said.

Meanwhile, the power supply had its impact on common households and people could not do their daily chores as the power supply was cut by 6 am itself.  However, the journey pilgrims were not much affected as the railways made alternative arrangements by running trains with diesel engines.
