TTD: Not More Than 64,000 Devotees on January 1

In what could be a disappointment to thousands of devotees, the TTD has decided to allow a maximum of 64,000 pilgrims for darshan of Venkateswara on New Year Day.

The Divya Darshan tokens for trekkers would be issued at Galigopuram on the Alipiri pathway and on Srivari Mettu side after 2 p.m on December 31. “These people will be allowed after midnight on the same day into the Narayana Giri gardens entrance and a maximum of 25,000 tokens will be issued,’’ JEO Srinivasa Raju said.

Free darshan pilgrims will be allowed from 5 p.m on Dec 31 for new year darshan from Vaikuntam queue complex and 20,000 to 25,000 people for New Year darshan and after that the gates will be closed.

Only 4,000 VIP and VVIP tickets will be issued and pilgrims on these tickets will be allowed from 2 a.m to 6 a.m. Each VIP ticket would cost `1,000 per head and maximum of six tickets will be issued to each VVIP or VIP.

Those under protocol category like persons from the judiciary, ministers, people’s representatives, Board members will be allowed through special entrance behind Golla Mandapam.
