'U' stir beefed up with JACs uniting against division

The ongoing Samaikyandhra movement in East and West Godavari districts is likely to get intensified with the Joint Action Committees (JAC) of various associations launching the ‘Sakalajanula Samme’ from midnight of August 12. The JACs, under the aegis of East and West Godavari Districts Journalists JAC and Chamber JAC, met here Sunday and took a decision to this effect.

The JACs of APNGOs’ Association, municipal employees, APSRTC, Transco, Panchayat Raj, Irrigation, Roads and Buildings, Medical and Health, Revenue and other departments will participate in the ‘Sakalajanula Samme’.

As part of it, all the private and government educational institutions, offices, banks, business establishments and courts, except for hospitals, milk booths and medical shops, will be closed indefinitely. In all, 1,600 RTC buses will remain off the roads in the twin Godavari districts, while the JACs decided to stop the movement of private vehicles as well. Rallies, dharnas and other protest programmes have been planned across the districts in a massive way.

Meanwhile, the bandh against the Union government’s decision to create Telangana state continued on 12th day today. Stamps and registration minister Thota Narasimham’s wife Thota Vani is continuing her indefinite fast at Bhanugudi Junction in Kakinada for the second day. Union minister for Human Resources Developmemt MM Pallam Raju, other ministers, MPs, MLAs also extended their solidarity.
