‘Order on Power Rate Revision Soon’

GULBARGA: The Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) will pass an order on revision of power tariff in three weeks, said Chairman of KERC M R Srinivasamurthy.

Srinivasamurthy told this to presspersons after holding a public hearing on the  proposal of hike in power tariff by Gulbarga Electricity Supply Company (GESCOM) .

According to him, so far, the KERC had completed public hearing on the proposals of four ESCOMS, including GESCOM. However,  similar exercises will be conducted in Bangalore on the proposals of BESCOM on April 11. Finally, the public hearing will be held on the proposal of KPTCL in Bangalore on April 13.

“Later, the KERC members will sit together and examine suggestions, opinions and complaints of public and the proposal of Electricity Supply Companies (ESCOMS),” he added. According to him, they  will pass orders on revision of power tariff in the next three weeks.

He added that all the ESCOMs had put similar proposal of increasing power tariff by 73 paisa per unit. The KERC will pass a common order on the revision of tariff. Srinivasamurthy refused to comment on the possible quantum of hike in power tariff. KERC members Vishwanath Hiremath and Srinivas Rao were present.
