GULBARGA: A delegation of ministers and legislators from districts under Krishna and Bhima river belt will meet Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chauhan on Wednesday to discuss the release of 4 TMC water to Krishna river from Koyna dam and 2 TMC to Bhima river from Ujani dam for tackling the drinking water crisis in Belgaum, Bijapur and other districts. Led by state Water Resource Minister Basavaraj Bommai, the team was supposed to meet Chauhan at 3 pm on Tuesday. However, the team could not reach Mumbai by 5 pm, sources told Express.

The delegation reached Mumbai at 7 pm and rescheduled the appointment to 12 noon on Wednesday. The climatic conditions in Belgaum did not allow the delegation to fly till 5 pm, claimed the sources. On Tuesday, Bommai was holding a review meeting at 10.30 am with officials on the drought situation across the state. Reportedly, Chief Minister Sadananda Gowda instructed him to rush to Mumbai to attend the meet.

It is believed that after discussion with the Karnataka delegation, Maharashtra would take a decision regarding release of water.
