BANGALORE: Terming the allegations against him as due to political conspiracy, former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa on Sunday expressed confidence of emerging clean of all charges soon.

“Unable to digest my popularity and growth, my political opponents hatched a conspiracy against me. But I am not deterred. A day will come when these persons will repent,” a beleaguered Yeddyurappa said at a function organised to felicitate Shivakumara Swamiji of Siddaganga Mutt on his 105th birthday.

He also expressed confidence of coming clean on charges foisted against him and returning to power. “Power will come searching you if people are with you. I will come back with people’s support,” he announced.

Yeddyurappa’s fate is hanging in balance with the Central Empowered Committee (CEC) recommending a CBI inquiry into donations to a trust run by his kin from mining majors. If the apex court accepts the recommendation, then the going would get tough for him. He also brushed aside rumours of him joining the Congress or having an electoral adjustment with it in the next Assembly elections. “I would never knock the doors of my opponents. Instead I will make them (opponents) come to me.”

The former CM also announced that he would be a changed man soon.
