TUMKUR: The Madiga Dandora Meesalati Horata Samiti activists have threatened to demonstrate black flags to AICC president Sonia Gandhi during her visit here on Saturday. Though the police have been making efforts to contact the outifit’s leaders, they have remained incommunicado by switching off their mobile phones, it is said.

Since security will be tight at the helipad and the Birla Auditorium, the activists are expected to stage a demonstration at the Siddaganga Mutt where she will attend the Guru Vandana.

Leaders Pavagada Sriram and Chikkalli Manjunatha told reporters that the AICC president had ignored their demand for the classification of SC quota to provide a separate quota of 8.5 per cent to the ‘untouchable’ Madigas.

In 2011 when they met Sonia Gandhi and presented a memorandum, she had promised to raise the issue in the Parliament, said the Madiga leaders. They will also raise slogans against KPCC president G Parameshwar for ignoring their demands.
