TUMKUR: AICC president Sonia Gandhi here on Saturday said true education should safeguard the secular heritage of the country. Speaking at the ‘Guru Vandana’ marking the 105th birthday of Sri Shivakumara Swamiji at Siddaganga Mutt, she remarked the Union government’s Right to Education policy is the remedy for  discrimination in impoverished communities. She expressed confidence that the students of the mutt will contribute to  nation building. “The Swami’s life mission has been shaping the children’s future,” she added.Sonia said the 12th century revolutionary Basaveshwara’s effort to create a casteless society was remarkable. “The impact of Basaveshwara’s philosophy on Siddaganga Mutt is profound.”
