BANGALORE: Governor HR Bhardwaj has appointed a one-man inquiry commission to investigate into allegations against Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) Vice-Chancellor Dr H Maheshappa of allegedly having made false claims in his profile.

An official notification from the Governor’s Secretariat substantiates further that the move was in the wake of the High Court disposing of the writ petition ordering the Governor to consider the matter.

The commission will consist of Justice Abhay Gohil, former judge of Madhya Pradesh High Court, and former chairman of Appellate Authority of Industrial and Financial Reconstruction, New Delhi. “The commission shall submit its findings along with recommendation on action to be taken. It would suggest steps to be taken for future appointment of V-C, VTU, to ensure such issues are not repeated,” the notification reads.
