BANGALORE: Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda promised to review the Sarojini Mahishi Committee Report - which recommended that local talent be recruited in private sector companies operating in Karnataka.

At a function organised by the Kannada Development Authority (KDA) where he distributed scholarships to students of post-graduate Kannada centres of universities in neighbouring states, the CM said: “It is imperative to introduce changes to the Committee report taking into consideration the changing times.”

He promised to constitute a committee involving the KDA chairman, for whaich a proposal would be mooted in the ongoing Legislature session.

The report, it must be remembered, was submitted to the government long ago.

He also promised to look into the KDA’s demand of making hoisting the state flag on November 1, Rajyotsava day, compulsory.

Later, while addressing the Media, the chief minister,  who has completed six months in office, expressed confidence at overcoming his inhibitions in office.

“I am satisfied with what I have done till now... I have succeeded at halting corruption, improving transparency in administration and evolving a new sand mining policy, ” Gowda asserted.

When questioned on the sustained pinpricks he was being subjected to, he replied: “I am confident of overcoming such things.”

Higher Education Minister Dr V S Acharya and state BJP president K S Eshwarappa were among those present on the occasion.
