UDUPI: Shiroor Mutt pontiff Laxmivara Theertha, one of the Ashta Matadhipathis of Udupi, on Sunday might  have visited St Mary’s Island, where the district administration sponsored rave party was held and expressed his shock over how the island was abused by the foreigners.

Speaking to mediapersons, Laxmivara Theertha said when he went to the island both DC M T Reju and Udupi MLA Raghupathi Bhat were present there.

“I am dissatisfied with the district administration for joining hands with the organisers,” he said, adding that holy places like Gokarna and Hampi have been abused by tourists and hippis.

Udupi Zilla Nagarika Samiti held a protest march here against the indecent. Samiti secretary Nithyananda Volakad said the rave party brought a bad name to the island.

He and expressed anguish against the DC for sponsoring the same.
