BANGALORE: The Opposition leader in the Legislative Council Motamma said that the BJP will be taught a befitting lesson by the people in the next Assembly elections.

“It is a shame that the party, which behaves like the custodians of Indian culture is trying to shield its MLAs, who were caught red-handed watching a sleazy clip in the Assembly. People are carefully watching the behaviour of BJP MLAs and they will show the party its place in the next election,” said Motamma after the Council was adjourned on Thursday.

Reiterating the demand for disqualification of the three former erring ministers, Motamma said that the five independent MLAs were disqualified for no fault of theirs. But, now, the party is shielding them, she added.

Deputy Leader in the Legislative Council S R Patil said the episode brought shame and insult to Karnataka. He said, “We expected the chief minister to tender an unconditional apology to the people. If the trio was dismissed from the assembly and the party, it would have  restored lost dignity and respect. The government’s behaviour is ridiculous.”
