BELGAUM: Bowing to pressure from his supporters, the former minister and Athani legislator Lakshman Savadi has decided to celebrate his 52nd birthday at Aigali village in Athani taluk on February 16.

Savadi has called for a meeting with his supporters at the proposed venue at 10.30 am on Monday. At the birthday celebrations, PWD Minister C M Udasi will inaugurate three lift irrigation projects, mini Vidhana Soudha and a stadium.

Savadi had earlier planned to celebrate his birthday with one lakh people. He had invited CM Sadananda Gowda, and former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa among others. However, after the porngate scandal, sources said that Savadi cancelled the function.

Congress to show black flag

Athani: The Athani Block Congress will stage a black flag demonstration against MLA Laxman Savadi on his birthday on February 16, to protest against his refusal to resign from the Legislative Assembly after the porngate scandal. Block Congress president Harshad Gadyal, who chaired a Congress meeting, said that the party will not rest until Savadi resigns as he had embarrassed the people of the taluk.
