BANGALORE: The three tainted former ministers - Lakshman Savadi, C C Patil and Krishna Palemar - on Monday sought time till February 19 to reply to the show cause notices issued to them by Assembly Speaker K G Bopaiah.

The trio who had resigned as ministers after the Media exposed them while watching and sharing a porn-clip inside the Assembly were supposed to file their replies today by 10.30 am. However, they chose to seek time stating that they need to take legal opinion. “All of them have sought one week time,” said Assembly Secretary P Omprakash.

When asked if they would get time as requested, Omprakash said it was for the Speaker to decide.

The video footage telecast by the news channels showed Savadi and Patil watching sleazy clips when the House was debating the serious issue of drought situation in the state. Later, Savadi dragged Palemar’s name stating that it was he who made him to watch the porn-clip by giving his mobile.

Following this all the three had to resign owing to pressure from the party.

Bopaiah later ordered an inquiry into the incident following stiff pressure from the Opposition who demanded their disqualification. While ordering the inquiry, the Speaker had also issued show-cause notices to the former ministers.

The seven member inquiry committee is yet to be set.
