MANGALORE: Lamenting over his fate on being linked with every scandal in the Legislative Assembly, Congress MLA U T Khader representing Mangalore vehemently denied sending any sex clippings to former district in-charge minister Krishna J Palemar.

Referring to TV footage which also shows him sharing pictures with Palemar in the Assembly, Khader disclosed that he was showing pictures of his daughter saved on his cellphone. Khader in a bid to silence all doubting Thomases switched his cellphone on and showed half-a-dozen pictures of his daughter to reporters at a press conference convened in party office on Monday.

If he was indeed the source of sex clippings, the BJP would never have spared him and would have demanded his resignation also, he reasoned. Admitting on having committed a lapse in sharing pictures of his daughter when the house was transacting business, he said the issue on whether he had done anything wrong should be best left to the Speaker.  Though he shared a good rapport with Palemar, he stood by his party’s decision which had insisted on stringent action being taken against the disgraced ministers who destroyed the sanctity of the Assembly with their reckless act. If needed, Khader would appear before the House Committee to explain his stand.

Khader also vowed to leave behind his cell phone while attending Legislature proceedings. He had even sought permission from Speaker K G Bopaiah to leave behind his cellphone. Khader says he now disapproves the ‘established tradition’ of carrying a cellphone to Legislature proceedings.
