BANGALORE:  Auto drivers of Auto rickshaw Drivers’ Union (ARDU) threatened to go on a strike from 6 am to 6 pm on February 28 if their demands were not met.

Union members gathered outside the office of the Bangalore Urban Deputy Commissioner on Tuesday and submitted a memorandum in this regard.

Auto drivers have demanded a raise in the minimum fares of autos to Rs 24 from the existing Rs 17. They have also asked for a hike in the fare per km to Rs 12. Other unions belonging to Public Sector Undertakings (PSU), banks and oil sector companies have called for a strike on February 28. After accepting their memorandum, the DC has reportedly called for meeting with  union representatives.
