BANGALORE: Geetha Book House of Mysore, Dr G Krishnappa and Dr Leelavathi Devdass were selected for the Kannada Book Authority Awards for 2011-12.

Announcing the names at a media conference here on Thursday, Kannada Book Authority president Dr G Siddalingaiah said, “Geetha Book House, Mysore, has been adjudged distinguished book sellers in the nation.

Thus the Kannada Book Authority has given the Prakashana Award to it, which carries `1 lakh.” Dr G Krishnappa, working for the Transport Department, contributed works on Da Ra Bendre was given the G P Rajaratnam Award, carrying `50,000.

Dr Leelavathi Devdass was awarded the Dr Anupama Niranjana Medical Journal Write-ups Award which carries `20,000 for her works on leprosy patients over four decades.

Dr Siddalingaiah said the Kannada Pustaka Sogasu Award 2012 was given to five writers.

K Praveen Nayak work on Dr Rajkumar Ondu Belaku, former minister M Y Ghorpade’s work on Belaku Neralu, D G Mallikarjun’s work Klickasthira Chitragalu, P S Kumar’s book Huttida Rekhe Kattida Hadu and Anandakrishna’s book on Maji Muttu Maji Loka were awarded.

The Children special Book Award carrying `8,000, was bagged by C M Govinda Reddy.

The awards function will be held in March
