BELGAUM: Union Minister for Labour and Employment Mallikarjun Kharge denied that he is entering state politics.

He addressed the media here on Monday that AICC president Sonia Gandhi had given him a chance to serve at the national  level and that he was happy with it.

He termed reports of his leading the party in state during the upcoming elections as “hypothetical”, adding that it did not merit an answer.

The minister exuded confidence over his party’s prospects in the Goa Assembly elections.

‘Art 371 to be Presented in Parl’

The proposal to obtain special status for the Hyderabad-Karnataka region, Article 371, would be presented in Parliament soon. Kharge said that the Union Home Minister will discuss the issue with the prime minister before it is presented in the Parliament.

However, Kharge did not specify any time frame for the same.

“The people of Hyderabad-Karnataka region are not demanding separate statehood but development, which have been neglected for years together,” the minister added.
