BANGALORE: Home Minister R Ashok clarified that he met the national leaders of the BJP not to take up any individual’s cause but to apprise them about the developments in the state unit of the party.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a function here on Saturday, he said he had met various leaders of the party, including BJP national president Nitin Gadkari. “I updated them on the developments in the party here. As there exists some confusion about various issues here, I requested the national leaders to sort them out. I have neither supported anybody nor taken up any individual’s cause before the leaders,” he maintained.

However, he admitted that he had told the leaders about the vital role former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa had played to build the party in the state.    “I have asked the leaders to ensure that Yeddyurappa is given a key post in the state party. Its now up to them to give any position to him,” Ashok added.

Meanwhile, Ashok called Yeddyurappa a ‘disciplined soldier’ of the party and added that all in the party knew about his leadershipskills. “I am quite sure that Yeddyurappa will neither quit the BJP nor form any new political party. Yeddyurappa will emerge clean from the allegations made against him,” he said.
