BANGALORE: The Hyderabad-Karnataka Action Committee, which is spearheading an agitation demanding special status to most backward regions consisting Gulbarga, Bidar, Raichur, Bellary, Koppal and Yadagir district by amending Article 371 of the Constitution, would also strive hard to ensure equal reservation to the people of the area at all levels including secretariat, courts and important departments in the state government.

Speaking to Express, former minister and the committee chairman, Vyjanath Patil charged that lack of proportionate strength at the state secretariat, courts and directorates of various departments is fuelling the feeling among the people of the region that they were betrayed by successive governments on the issue.

He said that to press for various charter of demands the committee has called for a Hyderabad-Karnataka bandh on January 24.

Stating that the agitation was apolitical, the leader also said that , “The committee would call all the political parties to join the agitation as it is for a good cause.”
