HUBLI: Chairman Emeritus of Infosys Technologies Limited N R Narayana Murthy said secularism, conservation of ecology for posterity and  globalisation are a must for global inclusive growth.

He was addressing students and academicians from across the state at the Yuva Summit and Lead Award Ceremony organised by Deshpande Foundation at the BVB College of Engineering here on Sunday.

Murthy said that no country could prosper or achieve economic growth without adapting the principles of secularism. It is everyone’s responsibility to practice true secularism, decent behaviour, pluralism and respect one another, he said.

The bad intentions of people have done immeasurable damage to nations, which has also taken a toll on various major religions, he said stressing the need for pluralism for inclusive growth in society.

“During the last 15-20 years, there have been huge atrocities committed on the earth and the planet is suffering from tremendous strain. There is a need to conserve ecology and energy,” Murthy said, adding that environmental emissions like carbon dioxide should be checked.

Murhty said during the course of his address: “During the pre-globalisation    era, developed and developing nations were poles apart. However, due to globalisation such differences  are now vanishing.”

Stressing the need for higher education, he said it was the key to success. He called upon youths of the nation to work hard.

Founder of Deshpande Foundation, Gururaj Deshpande, called upon youth to find solutions to the problems of society.
